OUR TOWN: Ormond Beachers star in upcoming Playhouse show

The Daytona Playhouse is opening its latest comedy, as well as auditions for its December show; a local senior center hosts a 'Happy Birthday to Me' party; and, learn about the county's emergency pet clinic.

New comedy, auditions opening at playhouse

“The Butler Did It,” by Tim Kelly and directed by Jeanne Carley, will open Oct. 25 at the Daytona Playhouse, 100 Jessamine Blvd., featuring four Ormond residents: Lori Stamatis, Gretchen Wynegar, Robert Siegel and Bethany Fulghum.

The comedy will hold productions 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25, 26, 31, Nov. 1 and 2, and a 2 p.m. matinee Nov. 3. Tickets are $16, $14 for seniors and $5 for kids 18 and under.

Auditions for the Playhouse’s December production of “You Say Tomatoes” will also take place 7 p.m. Oct. 27 and 28. Two female actors, ages 35-50, and two male actors, 45-55, are needed.

“Happy birthday to ... me!’

Resident Thelma L. Gandy presented “Everybody’s Birthday Party!” Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Madison Glen Senior Community, at 570 Sterthaus Drive.

“I sincerely believe that having lots of fun, good hardy laughs, singing, dancing, socializing and communicating are all ingredients in helping us to stay healthy,” Gandy wrote, in the event’s invitation.

The event was nonprofit and free to residents, each of whom were allowed to bring a guest

There was lunch, live music, games, dances, a raffle, a sing-a-long and everyone singing “Happy birthday to me.”
