The Gassetts: 50 years and counting
Residents of Ormond Beach for 40 years, Dick and Ann Gasset celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Feb. 9 at the Tomoka Oaks Country Club, 20 Tomoka Oaks Blvd .
Dick Gassett is a retired engineer who founded MattCounts, a national math competition, in Volusia County schools. Ann is a former speech teacher and county teacher of the year.
Family Renew: Kolaska, Yarbrough, Welter elected
Three Ormond Beach residents have been elected to the 2013 Family Renew Community Executive Board.
Terri Kolaska was elected president; Glenn Yarbrough, vice president of development; and, Patti Ann Welter, secretary.
Family Renew has provided transitional housing to homeless families in Volusia County since 1989.
Panhellenic scholarship: Apply now
The Daytona Beach Area Alumnae Panhellenic is now accepting applications for its Martha Halling Panhellenic Scholarship. Applicants must live in Volusia or Flagler counties, be a member of a nationally recognized sorority and be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university.
Applications are due March 31. Scholarships will be awarded in May.

Post it: Poster contest open now
Entries into the United Way of Volusia-Flagler’s first-annual poster contest, for all ages and focusing on the theme “Making a difference in our community,” are now being accepted.
With a deadline of March 25, winners will be announced April 25. Posters will be judged by a volunteer panel, as well as on Facebook.
