The reorganized lobby will feature areas for socialization and mission work.

The lobby of Tomoka United Methodist Church, at 1000 Old Tomoka Road, is getting a face-lift, thanks to volunteer church members who were busy sanding, painting and reorganizing this week.

The walls and furniture are getting a coat of paint and some new pieces will be added. The lobby is also going to be split into three different areas.

A first area, a social room, will be added as a place for people to gather on Sunday morning to enjoy post-service coffee and donuts. The next area will provide information on church programs and activities. And the last area will serve as a place to drop off donations, according to Pastor Kandace Brooks.

“We’re active with Halifax Urban Ministries and other groups, so we’re always collecting food or school supplies,” she said.
