Despite a unanimous Planning Board approval back in May, the PDQ fast-food restaurant project planned for Phase 2 of Shoppes on Granada has been placed on an indefinite hold by the developer, announced Ormond Beach Planning Director Steven Spraker at the city's Planning Board meeting on Thursday, July 12.

The PDQ would have joined an Aldi food market, retail/bank space, office/retail and a larger space for the

Salzburg Veterinary Office that are in the works for the shopping strip at 1298 W. Granada Blvd. Spraker said he does not know why the project is on hold at this time.

“Maybe with all the other chicken restaurants going in, they’re maybe looking for other sites," Spraker said.

A Zaxby's is currently under construction next to the VyStar Credit Union at 1287 W. Granada Blvd.

Spraker said the developer has not gone to the City Commission. He does not know whether the project will move forward or not.
