Pedestrian hit and killed on North U.S. 1

The driver of the car was from Palm Coast.

A pedestrian was killed on North U.S. 1 near the north end of the Tomoka River Bridge at 8:23 p.m. Jan. 16. The pedestrian has not yet been identified by the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 2005 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Wilson Kowaleski, 30, of Palm Coast, was traveling north in the left, inside lane when the pedestrian entered the road and was struck by the vehicle, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.
