Two people were injured after a 97-year-old woman hit them with her Cadillac SUV in the Rivergate Village parking lot located at the corner of Nova Road and West Granada Boulevard on Friday, Aug. 17, according to the Ormond Beach Police Department.

A Florida Traffic Crash report stated that at around 11:45 a.m., the woman turned left to a travel lane in the parking lot while the couple was walking down. The report explained the elderly woman saw the couple, but mistakenly pressed down on her vehicle's accelerator instead of the brake. The injured persons are an 85-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman from Daytona Beach.

Both pedestrians were transported to the hospital for their injuries, which OBPD Public Information Officer Keith Walker said included broken bones. As of Monday, Aug. 20, the injured couple was still in the hospital.

This story was updated at 2:53 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, with new information from the traffic crash report.
