Pink party: Dollar stores raise funds for anti-breast cancer campaigns

Beach Girl Dollar and Sun Dollar Boutique will each donate a portion of their October proceeds to breast cancer awareness organizations.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Beach Girl Dollar and Sun Dollar Boutique will hold promotional events to raise money to fight breast cancer.

Kathy Tyree, owner of Beach Girl Dollar, at 99 S. Yonge St., will donate 20% of her proceeds from all of her store’s pink inventory to the American Cancer Society, throughout the entirety of October.

Sun Dollar Boutique, at 171 E. Granada Blvd., is holding a similar promotion. From 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 10% of the store’s sales will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.

A former health education teacher, Tyree hopes to raise a total of $200 through her fundraising drive.
