As the Ormond Beach Planning Board congratulated Planning Director Steven Spraker and city staff for doing a good job at the first OB Life meeting in late June, which addressed community development, one board member shared some negative feedback she heard from attendants.

At the board's meeting on Thursday, July 12, board member Lori Tolland said she heard some frustrations from some who felt that there was no room for

dialogue, that answers to questions were prewritten and "contrived" and that the city was still not listening to their concerns.

“I don’t think at the end of the day we’re going to please everybody, but I personally think you did a tremendous job, and to keep repeating and staying consistent with our answers and with what we’re doing, I think, is key," Tolland said.

Board member Al Jorczak said he hoped residents understood that they "really are not hiding things."

“Hopefully as the other meetings go along, they get a little bit better understanding of what the process is,” Jorczak said.

The OB Life meetings are a series of civic engagement workshops to help the City Commission update the city's strategic plan. The next one is scheduled for July 24 and will revolve around transportation.
