No harm in asking?

7:48 p.m. — Intersection of Bryant Street and Burns Street

Possession of meth with intent to sell. You'll never know the answer until you ask, and for a 27-year-old Port Orange woman who was found to be in possession of meth, the answer was no. The woman had asked officers to destroy the drugs in lieu of arresting her.

According to her arrest report, police made contact with the woman after noticing her extensively damaged vehicle stopped on the road. The woman informed the officer that she had been involved in a hit and run crash n Holly Hill and that instead of calling it in, she was trying to get to her friend's house, but her car stopped working.

The first officer that responded to the scene noted the woman was acting "very unusual," according to the report, and was moving around inside her vehicle under the premise that she was cleaning it. The officer spotted a syringe in the front passenger seat and ask he asked her about it, she pulled a second syringe and appeared to empty its contents, though the officer couldn't be sure there had been anything in the syringe in the first place.

The woman was detained while the vehicle was searched for drugs, and police found methamphetamine scattered all over the interior of the car and inside a bag in the woman's purse. The woman told officers, without being asked the report notes, that she only used opiates and not meth. That's when she asked the officers destroy the meth and let her go.

Later, the woman said that the presence of the meth was due to her boyfriend being robbed while he was inside the car earlier that day. More narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia, as well as cash, were found inside the car, prompting police to believe she intended to sell the drugs.

She was taken to jail.

Unwanted visitor

7:24 a.m. — 200 block of Arlington Way

Loitering or prowling. Police arrested a 36-year-old Ormond Beach man who was found shirtless in a citizen's home.

When police arrived at the scene, the man was standing within the residence, about 20 feet from the door, the report details. The reporting officer asked that he open the door and step outside, and the man complied. The officer placed him in handcuffs.

The homeowner told police that she didn't know who the man was, and the man's story to police changed several times. At first, he told police that he had been inside looking for his car, and he rambled about "yelling for people," and tried to explain that he didn't know why he had been inside the home, according to the police report.

The man denied being under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. While searching the home to make sure there were no others inside, an officer found the man's shirt, shoes and wallet, as well as a bag containing meth.

The homeowner did not want to pursue burglary charges. The man was taken to jail.

Angry report

12:31 p.m. — 1500 block of North U.S. 1

Stolen vehicle. A 49-year-old Daytona Beach man accused police of not doing their jobs and being crooked because he felt "he was not receiving adequate service" in relation to a disagreement he was going through over a U-Haul rental, according to the police report.

The man told officers he would be "having police watched" as he made his report and used foul language throughout the conversation. The man said that he had made an agreement with a Sanford man a few days prior to rent a U-Haul truck for work purposes, but that there had been a change of plans and he ended up removing the Sanford man from the agreement; however, the Sanford man still used the vehicle, and turned it in late, causing the man to receive extra charges. The man reported the vehicle stolen at that point.

However, the man didn't provide police with any information about the rental and told the officer that it was his job to gather all that. Though he was advised by police that pursuing this matter civilly was an option, the man was adamant on pursuing criminal charges.
