Ormond Beach resident Ruth Matheny celebrated her 100th birthday on Jan. 17, and was crowned Queen for the Day by the Prince of Peace Council of Catholic Women.

Matheny moved to Ormond Beach in 1980 and has been very active with the Friends of the Ormond Beach Library and the Prince of Peace Council of Catholic Women. She was also an editor for "Today's Catholic Teacher" until a few years ago.
