Realtors Sold 4 the Cause, which conducts events throughout the year to raise money for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, is looking for sponsors and players for their next event, the inaugural Realtors Sold 4 the Cause Golf Tournament. The group recently raised $4,067 at its annual Bingo Night for Breast Cancer, which attracted 160 players. In June, they raised $4,722 in a new event, the Beach Bike Cruise.
March of Dimes recognizes Halifax Health
Halifax Health has been recognized by the March of Dimes and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Florida district, for successfully reducing early elective deliveries without a medical reason before 39 completed weeks of pregnancy.
Medical experts agree that mothers should refrain from inducing labor and instead deliver after 39 weeks, if at all possible, because of the significant developments still taking place, according to a statement from Halifax Health.
“We joined in this very important safety initiative last year with a mission to educate the women of our community about the risks of scheduling deliveries early,” said Bonnie Wittman, service line administrator for Halifax Health-Center for Women and Infant Health.
The March of Dimes presented Halifax Health with a special recognition banner as part of a national campaign.
Triathlon planned
Aunt Catfish’s restaurant, in conjunction with Volusia/Flagler YMCA, has planned a triathlon, for July 26 at 7 a.m. Packets can be picked up at Port Orange Family YMCA on July 25 3-6 p.m. or on race day at Aunt Catfish’s starting at 6 a.m. Online registration is available at altavistasports.com until 7 a.m. on July 24. Lopez hires athletic director
Father Lopez Catholic High School, Daytona Beach, has announced that Scott Drabczyk has been hired as athletic director. School president Michael Coury said that Drabczyk is from Palm Coast and his parents now live in Ormond Beach.
Drabczyk graduated with honors from Bethune-Cookman University, and magna cum laude from Stetson University with a master’s degree. He most recently worked at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando.
