Due to recent rainfall, the northern portion of Beach Street leading to Tomoka State Park was closed to traffic on Friday, Oct. 6, with water so high people could kayak through.

Capt. Scott Cornelius of the Tomoka Outpost did just that.

"While Kayaking at Tomoka is a common pastime, kayaking the streets in the loop aren't what we call 'normal' in these part," said Cornelius in a Facebook message to the Ormond Beach Observer.

He added that people still wanting to visit Tomoka State Park could come up Beach Street from the south. He said that while the Tomoka Outpost was affected by the past hurricanes and bad weather, they are looking forward to helping those who want to "take a much needed break from reality."
