Remains found in wooded area

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a hunter discovered human remains in a wooded area near North U.S. 1.

Deputies were called out to the area off Broadway Avenue and Atlantic Road around 5:04 p.m., Nov. 25, after the hunter found what appeared to human bones. The Sheriff's Office Major Case Unit is investigating. The area is near Ormond Beach but is in Volusia County jurisdiction.
