After holding New Smyrna Beach scoreless on Friday, Oct. 20, Mainland got off to a hot start against Pine Ridge on Monday, Oct. 24, as the Buccaneers (5-3, 3-0) took down the Panthers 56-0 at Pine Ridge High School to clinch the District 13-6A title. It was the Buccaneers' third win in a row.

Mainland quarterback Richard Kamara scored three touchdowns in the first half, including a 79-yard bomb to D’marcus Adams in the first quarter.

The Buccaneers, who led 42-0 at halftime, have outscored their last three opponents 145-3.

With the win over the Panthers, Mainland — which plays Seabreeze at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium — returns to the postseason for the 24th-straight year. The Buccaneers will host a regional playoff game on Nov. 10 against an opponent that has yet to be determined.
