Participants can win prizes.

Residents will get a chance to win prizes and learn about businesses and historic sites in a promotional program called “Rediscover U.S. 1: America’s Business Highway.”

A regional business scavenger hunt will take place along the highway from April 11 through April 19. There will be 38 businesses and historic sites in eight communities from Ormond Beach to Oak Hill.

Participants can pick up a scavenger hunt form at the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce, 165 W. Granada Blvd., or the Human Resources Dept. on the first floor of City Hall. They will also be available on the city website.

After filling out the forms by visiting the sites, participants must return the forms to City Hall by 4 p.m. on April 21. Random drawings will be made for gift certificates from participating businesses. There will be a total of $800 in prizes.

“Our goal is to promote awareness of the existing businesses and opportunities that exist along U.S. 1,” said Joe Mannarino, Ormond Beach economic director.

The promotion was created by people in the various communities who are involved in economic development.
