Sheriff Chitwood discusses safety with students

Sheriff Mike Chitwood visited students at The Global Montessori School of Ormond.

Students at The Global Montessori School of Ormond got a special lesson on safety thanks to the Volusia County Sheriff's Department.

At 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood stopped by to educate students about being safe in their community. Chitwood spoke about what is happening in the community and the different safety needs children should be aware of when they are out.

According to school officials, this talk is part of the school's curriculum.
