Lady Renegades take second place in tournament; Seabreeze’s Mason James named Defensive Player of the Week; plus youth football coverage and more.

Lady Renegades take second place

The Ormond Beach Lady Renegades 14U team took second place in last weekend’s Striking out Breast Cancer tournament in Jacksonville. The team entered the elimination games, Oct. 14, with a 2-1 record in the tournament. After a 90-minute rain delay in their first elimination game, they run-ruled the Jacksonville Bandits with a 12-1 score. In their second game, which put them in the championship, the Renegades won, 4-0, against the Jacksonville Tsunami.

The team  lost the championship, 9-6, to the Jacksonville Spirit.

Seabreeze’s Mason James named Defensive Player of the Week

The Daytona Beach Quarterback Club named Seabreeze defensive back Mason James its Defensive Player of the Week for his performance, Oct. 5, against South Lake High School. James had an interception and scored a special teams touchdown after picking up a bad snap on a South Lake punt.

Seabreeze girls cross country finishes sixth, runners break records

The Seabreeze girls cross country team finished in sixth place in the Terrier Invitational, Oct. 13, in Titusville.

Elizabeth Murray’s personal record time of 20:08 was good enough for fifth place overall. Josie Gray finished 12th place overall. Catherine Baker dropped her personal record to 22:41, down from 24:09. Freshman Sarah Myers’s 23:36 time was also a personal record.

Pride Pee Wee, Mighty Mites and Varisty get wins

The Pride Pee Wee beat the East Marion Mustangs 34-0, Oct. 13, in its last home game of the season. The defensive shutout was lead by Christian Barboza, Jordan Colubiale, AJ Leffler, Collin Azerello, Hunter Wilcox, Maliak Brunson, Chad Ansorage, Richard Pope, BJ Lord, and Jonah Reily.

The Mighty Mites won 44-0 and Varsity won 54-0.

Father Lopez football loses, both cross country teams win

The Green Wave football team lost 56-20, Oct. 12, to Trinity Christian.

Both the boys and girls cross country teams took first place in the Lake Mary Prep Invitational. Both teams will complete Oct. 20, in the Mt. Dora Bible Invitational.
