The Class 6A, District 8 boys basketball playoffs start in a week, and a golf tournament to support high school baseball opens sign-ups.

Tournament time: Seabreeze vs. Pine Ridge up first
The FHSSA Class 6A, District 8 boys basketball playoffs begin 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, with Seabreeze (5 Seed) playing Pine Ridge (4 Seed) in the first round. If the Sandcrabs win, they play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, against top-seeded Edgewater.
Mainland (2 Seed) plays its first game at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, against Deltona (3 Seed). If the Buccaneers win, they advance to the district championship, 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.
All games in the district playoffs will be played at Seabreeze High School.
Take me out to the golf tournament
The Seabreeze baseball team is holding a golf tournament April 6, at River Bend Golf Club, to raise funds to supplement the team’s budget and season's expenses.
All registration must be received by April 1. Registration for a single golfer costs $65, $230 for a foursome. Registration includes golf, lunch, contests and awards.
Hole-in-one awards include $5,000, a flat-screen TV or two airplane tickets.

The Seabreeze baseball season starts Wednesday, Feb. 6, with the Baseball Classic. The first home game is Feb. 15, against Spruce Creek, at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex.
