Making racket: Plantation Bay joins senior tennis league
Plantation Bay joined a masters 55-plus tennis league, run through the Florida division of the United States Tennis Association.
The league is open to all skill levels, including beginners, former players and pros. Beginner games will be played on 36-foot courts with lower nets and red, low-compression balls that are easier to see.
The advanced-level games are on 60-foot courts, and use a regulation-height net with an orange ball, which offers more speed. The best masters 55-plus players will have games on a full 78-foot court, using a green-dot ball with only slightly lower compression.
