The dotted line: Whitfield and Jones sign with colleges

Father Lopez soccer player Fiona Whitfield signed with Johnson & Wales University March 22, in a ceremony at the high school.

Whitfield had 11 goals and 7 assists for a Green Wave team that came within one game of the district championship.

Seabreeze football player Chris Jones signed with Jacksonville University.

Junior golfer Griffin Pickett shot a hole-in-one March 23, on the Riviera Country Club’s eighth hole, a 158-yard par three, using a nine iron.

The Riviera Country Club held its Pro-Am March 22. The winners are listed as follows:

Low Pro: David Beck 74

Low Net: Jim Stone 68

1st: Jim Stone, Jim DeVine, Chip Larlee and Bob Ingraham 127; 2nd (tie): David Beck, Todd Blackhurst, David Krupski and Carl DelNegro 129, and Bob Skanes, Roy Gromer, Rich Faughnan and George Prastitis 129.

Lace ‘em up: Challenger Sports of All Sorts

The Ormond Beach Special Populations Division’s Challenger Sports of All Sorts will begin April 3, for special-needs children ages 5 to 10.

The six-week program will teach basic skills, featuring a different sport each week.
