Evan Miranda, a senior at Father Lopez, signed his National Letter of Intent last week to play baseball at North Carolina A&T, in Greensboro, N.C.

Miranda, a left-handed pitcher, has been a three-year varsity player, and Father Lopez coach Trevor Berryhill said Miranda has progressed immensely in the last three years, both on and off the field.

“I am very proud of Evan,” Berryhill said. “Not just for this athletic accomplishment, but for who he is as a person.”

Miranda will be the only senior on this season’s Green Wave baseball team, and Berryhill expects to rely on Miranda in the middle of the batting order and as the anchor of the pitching staff.

Last year, Miranda pitched in nine games, with a 1-3 record and 27 punch-outs in 22.1 innings pitched.

He also hit .365 with one home run last year.

“I am excited for Evan and his family for his opportunity to continue his academics and play baseball at North Carolina A&T,” Berryhill said. “I think it is a great fit for Evan, and he will excel there on the field and in the classroom.”

The North Carolina A&T Aggies are a NCAA Division I (FCS) team that competes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
