Earlier this year, the Ormond Beach Breakers were playing as a noncompetitive girls soccer team.

But after an undefeated season, coach Jason Arnold wanted to see what his team could accomplish. And so, with the permission of the players’ parents, the team entered into its first tournament, the Phoenix Cup, in Palm Bay.

The Breakers swept past the competition, taking home first place.

But the success didn’t stop there.

In its second tournament, the Breakers recently won the U14 division of Central Brevard Hurricane Classic, which took place Nov. 9-10.

"Great group of girls showing their skills,” Arnold said. “These girls are a great example of their hometown.”

The Breakers outscored opponents 11-2 over three games.

Players on the team include Hannah Arnold, Katherine Brick, Madelyn Bronson, Vivianna Feigenbaum, Alihya Hahn, Grace Hawryluk, Alexis Hooper, Gabrielle Johnston, Summer Klein, Erin Lev, Brianna McLoughlin, Katrina Russell, Nara Solis and Jourdan Waas.

Girls soccer: Father Lopez 8, Lake Mary Prep 0

The Father Lopez girls soccer team mercy-ruled Lake Mary Prep, 8-0, on Nov. 20.

Father Lopez managed to net four goals in each half. The Green Wave blasted 25 shots on goal. Lake Mary Prep managed just one shot on target.

Allie Lydecker led the way with four goals. Isabella Napolitano, Adelina Feuerbacher and Sarah Eads each added one goal.

Father Lopez improved to 4-4.
