Sidelines: Sandcrabs girls soccer's five-game winning streak ends, boys team ties New Smyrna Beach

The Seabreeze boys soccer team (4-0-2) picked up a win and a tie in its last two games. The Sandcrabs defeated Mainland 8-0 on Nov. 21 at Mainland High School and tied New Smyrna Beach 1-1 on Monday, Nov. 27, at Seabreeze High School. The draw against the Barracudas was the Sandcrabs' second draw of the season, their last coming Taylor on Nov. 16.

The girls team picked up its third loss of the season on Nov. 21, losing to Bartram Trail 5-1 at home. It was the team's first loss at home. In addition, Seabreeze was also coming off a five-game winning streak.

Sandcrabs boys basketball wins season-opener, girls lose to Deltona

The Seabreeze boys basketball team tipped off its season with a 62-45 win over rival Spruce Creek on Monday, Nov. 27, at Seabreeze High School. The Sandcrabs return to action Thursday, Nov. 30, against Flagler Palm Coast at FPC High School.

As for the girls team, the Sandcrabs dropped their season-opener 45-42 to Deltona on Nov. 20 at Seabreeze High School.

Mainland boys basketball picks up win over Yulee, girls to begin season

The Buccaneers' boys basketball team won their first game 55-48 over Yulee on Nov. 21 at Mainland High School as part of the Mainland Classic. The Buccaneers' have a long break until their next game against Pine Ridge on Dec. 6 at home.

The girls team opens up its regular season with back-to-back games at home against DeLand on Tuesday, Nov. 28, and Palatka on Wednesday, Nov. 29.
