The Sandcrabs were eliminated in the first round of the tournament.
Seabreeze made the hour-long trip to Orlando to compete in the University of Central Florida's 7-on-7 tournament on Saturday, June 16. The day started off with pool play, where each of the 29 teams completed four games to determine seeding for the tournament. The Sandcrabs went 1-4, including a win over Ida Baker. The Sandcrabs also held the lead against South Lake but ultimately lost to the Eagles by 1-point.
As part of tournament play, the Sandcrabs squared off against a solid DeLand team. The Bulldogs eliminated the Sandcrabs 26-0.
The Sandcrabs saw solid performances from receiver Orion Mountain and quarterback Isaiah Shirley. Shirley, a rising sophomore, was the MVP of the junior varsity team last season as a wide receiver.
Sandrabs coach Troy Coke wasn't too upset with how his team played on Saturday.
“The biggest thing I wanted to see is that we competed — no matter the score, no matter what happened," he said. "I thought we did that.”
