The Ormond Beach Family YMCA, located at 5128 Sterthaus Drive, offers a variety of youth sports during the spring, summer and winter. With the conclusion of summer basketball on July 21, the YMCA is preparing for the start of fall sports.

Practice for early fall soccer, ages 3 to 17, begins the week of Aug. 6 with the first game starting on Aug. 17.

Flag football and volleyball are also right around the corner.

The early registration period is from Aug. 26 to Sept. 23, and the late registration period is from Sept. 24 to Oct. 7. The first week of practice begins Oct. 15. Flag football is available for kids ages 4 to 17, and volleyball is available for kids ages 8 to 17.

Each sport costs $50 for a YMCA member during early registration and $60 after. If you are not a member, the price is $80 during early registration and $90 after.

Sign up to run in the Colorific 5K

The Volusia Flagler Family YMCA and Halifax Health are hosting the Colorific 5K on Saturday, Sept. 1, in Daytona Beach. The event will take place at 8 a.m. at Daytona State College.

The event will be a fun-filled color run that promises to have "every runner thoroughly covered and colored." Wear white to see how colorful you can be.

The entry fee is $27 through Aug. 30 or $32 at packet pick-up on the day of the race. Kids 12-and-under run for free with every adult-paid entry. All participants will receive a goody bag, t-shirt and post-race refreshments.
