No I in TEAM
Heading into an important stretch of the season, the Seabreeze baseball team is without two key players.
“We’ve had some unfortunate injuries, that have kind of put us back a little bit,” head coach Anthony Campanella said. “This week starts our district (schedule). We have four games in a row that are district games. It’s important to win these games and enter the spring break tournament on a high note.”
Campanella said that if his team finishes this stretch above .500, it will be in good shape; but the Sandcrabs will have to do it without pitcher and outfielder Anthony Campanella and infielder Jordan Pontious.
Campanella has been out for approximately two weeks with a knee injury, and could return this Friday, the head coach said, while Pontious’ return is likely farther away.
“Those are two big shoes to fill,” Campanella said. “We need some guys to step up and produce and get our guys rolling.”
Hunter Greer was brought up to the varsity team, from the J.V. team, to help fill in while Pontious is out.
