Jessica Paugh repurposes and recreates vintage furniture — when she's not working her other job, as a cop, that is.

As the door opens to the new Vintage Flair, at 142 E. Granada Blvd., the pieces of furniture that fill the inside are as unique as the store's owner.

A 16-year Volusia County law enforcement officer, Jessica Paugh tapped into her creative side to open the company and follow her passion. But that passion started as a simple hobby, a way to relieve stress from her day job. She started working on a few pieces for fun but, over time, she was starting to surprise herself with just how well certain pieces turned out.

With each project she finishes, she feels like she is breathing new life into vintage furniture, each piece with its own unique character. Her goal is to work with clients to repurpose and recreate pieces in their homes. Where others might use furniture as a canvas, on which to paint or place decor, Jessica sees the furniture itself a work of art.

Paugh attributes her creativity to her family. Her father and grandfather planted the seeds of construction in her, where her mother and brother were more on the artistic side.

In looking for the location for her boutique, she found the perfect home in Ormond Beach's Fountain Square. The environment is a perfect collection of supportive business owners, she says.
