South Carolina woman dies after motorcycle crash in Ormond Beach

OBPD reported that 41-year-old Mandee Vancil was thrown off her husband's motorcycle as he slowed down rapidly.

A 41-year-old South Carolina woman has died one day after she was thrown off the back of a motorcycle in Ormond Beach on Monday, March 9, Ormond Beach Police reported.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 900 block of North U.S. 1 and involved a single motorcycle, which was driven by the victim's husband, Mark Vancil. He attempted to brake rapidly, and caused the rear end of his bike to sway. His wife, Mandee Vancil, was not wearing a helmet when she fell, and was transported to the hospital with a severe head injury.

Mark Vancil was also taken to the hospital, but with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Ormond Beach Police. Mandee Vancil died at the hospital on Tuesday, March 10.
