St. James' annual bridge run goes big this year, opens sign-ups

The fifth-annual Holiday Bridge 5K Run, hosted by St. James Episcopal Church and School, will add fake snow, games and a pancake breakfast to its events roster this year. Proceeds will benefit charity initiatives.

The times, they are a-changin’ for St. James Episcopal Church and School’s Holiday Bridge 5K Run.

In its fifth year, the run will feature a Pancake Breakfast and Winter Wonderland this time around. The breakfast is $5 to guests, $12 for families, free to runners, and the wonderland will feature snow, an obstacle course, games, face-painting and more.

The breakfast starts at 8:30 a.m.

Registration for the $20 run is now open, and runners can sign up at Spikes Athletic Footwear, 1237 Ridgewood Ave., in Holly Hill, or online, at www.holidaybridgechallenge.com, until Dec. 24. Admission after Dec. 24 is $30.

Beginning at St. James, 44 S. Halifax Drive, the run will wind along the Halifax River, through Fortunato Park and over the Granada Blvd. bridge. All proceeds will benefit church initiatives, such as the Koutiala Women and Children’s Hospital, in Mali; the Jesus Clinic; Halifax Urban Ministries and Family Renew.

To date, more than $35,000 has been raised through this event.

Proceeds from the pancake breakfast will support St. James School.
