The hall at Tomoka United Methodist Church was filled with 23 voices singing four-part harmony April 11 as the Song of the Coast chorus prepared for a regional competition on April 16 at Peabody Auditorium.

They are members of Sweet Adelines International and sing a cappella, barbershop-style.

They will be competing against other choruses from throughout the state, and it’s their biggest event of the year. Carolyn Deni told the audience that they practice for 12 months for a seven-minute performance.

“It’s what we live for,” she said.

Sweet Adelines is an international organization open to women age 16 and older.  For information, call 767-7545.

The cost to attend is $30 and the Song of the Coast is scheduled to sing about 12:30 p.m. on April 16. For ticket information, visit peabodyauditorium.org.
