Pancakes brought in the crowds to Dunn’s Attic June 13 to fundraise the veterans’ event.

Nothing drives a crowed like maple syrup. Team Red White and Blue recent broke the record for a pancake breakfast at Dunn’s Attic by selling 277 tickets.

“This was an amazing gesture on the part of Wes Dunn and Dunn's Attic,” said Tracee Fleming, community outreach director of the Team RWB Daytona Chapter. “He split all the proceeds 50/50 with Team RWB, in the end handing over a donation of $700.”

Staff from Morgan Stanley volunteered their morning to serve pancakes and drinks, and Branch Manager David Welsh even bussed tables alongside Wes Dunn.

The event was held as a fundraiser for the 40th-annual Firecracker 4-miler and 10-miler races. Taking place on July 4th on Daytona Beach, Team RWB is the primary charitable beneficiary of this race, which is organized by the Daytona Beach Track Club and presented by Halifax Health as part of the Live Your Life Well Series.

“The Firecracker race was how I actually found out about Team RWB in 2012 and it has become incredibly important to me,” Fleming said. “When I officially joined the team in 2013, just after the 2013 Firecracker Race, my brother was about to deploy to Afghanistan and it was a means for me to do something positive with my nervous energy, and I've never regretted a moment spend volunteering to support America's veterans.”

Runners can register online up to June 29 at www.teamrwbfirecrackerrace.com. Runners can participate in person or they have the option to participate virtually if they will be out of town. The race is being promoted through the network of Team RWB Chapters and will have veterans, active duty military including some who are deployed, and family members participating all around the country and all around the world. Nearly 1,000 virtual runners are registered.
