The award was presented by the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc.

In recognition for its outstanding volunteer involvement, the Tillandsia Garden Club was awarded at the annual meeting for the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs District 6.

The club received the award for their participation with Habitat for Humanity of Volusia County. The award was presented to Carolyn Bacci, club president.

“The Tillandsia Garden Club members are thrilled to partner with Halifax Habitat for Humanity and provide landscape design, volunteers and fun,” she said. “It’s always a great feeling of accomplishment and joy to see the finished landscaping project.”

Included in the landscape design, the club provides trees, shrubs and native plants for the home.

Tillandsia Garden Club is one of the oldest active garden clubs in Volusia County. It was founded in 1948, and federated in 1950. The 40 members are proud of their volunteer accomplishments and community involvement.

The club’s local activities include:

  • The Tillandsia Garden and Rock in Ames Park, Ormond Beach.
  • Visiting local assisted living facilities helping to create a fun and stimulating program that incorporates plants and flowers, homemade treats, crafts and socialization.
  • Each year the club donates a book related to gardening to the local library.
