On Saturday Sept. 16 the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation will honor Volusia County Toys for Tots Campaign Coordinator Henry L. Butts with the Regional and National Award, recognizing him as Coordinator of the Year for his accomplishments during the 2016 season.

There were 792 local Toys for Tots campaigns conducted nationally, in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, in 2016.

In 2016, the campaign assumed the responsibilities of three former campaigns in Daytona Beach, Deland, and Ormond Beach.

With greater efficiency, the campaign collected 39,000 toys and distributed them to 9,600 less fortunate children in Volusia County. In addition the Staff Sgt. Bone Annual Golf Tournament was established, in honor of  Staff Sgt. John Bone who passed away during the 2015 campaign.

With his high standards and positive energy,  Butts has earned an immense amount of community support.  He leads his volunteers to understand the mission and importance of the Toys for Tots program. Butts also created and administered the official online forum for all coordinators nationwide to exchange information and receive assistance.

The 2017 Volusia County Toys for Tots Campaign announced this year’s Kick-Off Event. On Aug. 12  the first Toys for Tots Shoot Out will be held at the Volusia County Gun & Hunt Club.

“This year we want to serve more children in Volusia County and we believe we can make that happen,” Butts said.

“We are seeking the support of individuals, businesses, community leaders, media influencers and more, to help us kick off  this first campaign event off to a great start, which will surely catapult our efforts to the next level.”
