3:45 p.m. — 1500 block of West Granada Boulevard
Suspicious incident. A simple hair cut turned frightening for a supermarket hairdresser as her client began to ask her about "escape" plans, should he come into the store with a gun.
The hairdresser told police that the man, whose identity is unknown, came inside the hair salon and she received him as a customer. She asked him to write his name on the sign-in sheet, and the man told her "I can't do that. I'm wanted by police," according to the incident report. Thinking this was a joke, she still proceeded with the haircut.
When she asked him what style he wanted, the man said, "Any cut that won't get me fired," and started to tell her about how he hated his boss, and was "grateful" he just had a heart attack. He then shifted the conversation to a recent shooting in Texas, and asked the hairdresser what she thought, according to the report. The hairdresser became nervous, and the man said he was "just wondering, if I came in here with my AK-47."
She hurried to finish his haircut and reported the incident to police when he left the salon. She provided police with a hair sample, and police are continuing to investigate this incident.
4 p.m. — 1400 block of West Granada Boulevard
Petit theft. A 20-year-old Ormond Beach man was arrested for stealing a pair of underwear from a local retail store, telling police that he needed some, but didn't consider himself a thief.
The man said that he ripped the tag from the underwear and concealed the clothing in his pants. He didn't come into the store with the intention to steal, he told police according to his arrest report. "I'm not really a thief and I don't from people and store like that," the man told the reporting officer. "I just made a bad decision. I plan to move on and get a job so I don't have to steal."
The man was accompanied by a 24-year-old woman, who also stole clothing from the store. She repeated his words to police, saying they made a "dumb mistake." In total, the store reported the stolen clothing cost $220. The man was taken to jail, and the woman was issued a notice to appear in court.
12 p.m. — 600 block of North Halifax Drive
Information. A 54-year-old woman suspects her live-in contractor/tenant is trying to take advantage of the living situation and work agreement, as he has yet to complete a cement and tile project in her home, and the project isn't turning out the way she and her family wanted.
The woman told police she feels the contractor is mixing cement from packages bought for her home to use on other jobs, violating their agreement. She said she believes this is ho he "manipulates" people and makes money elsewhere, according to the report.
Police asked what they could do to help her with her claim, and she said she wished for him to remain in her home and finish the job. However, she wanted documentation for a future restraining order, she told officers.
The contractor has been living in her house for 2 years.
