Veterans Day Celebration
Noon to 2 p.m. at the Ormond Beach Senior Center, 351 Andrews St. The City’s Leisure Services Department will present a Veterans Day Celebration to honor our veterans with lunch and entertainment. Reservations required. Free for veterans and $7 for all others. Tickets must be purchased and picked up at the Leisure Services Office, 399 N. US Highway 1, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, until the event is sold out. Call 676-3250.
Prince of Peace Council of Catholic Women’s Card Party
12:15 to 3:30 p.m. at Prince of Peace Church Social Hall, 600 S. Nova Road. Men are welcome. Held on the second Thursday of the month from November through April, this is a chance to socialize, play cards or games, have a nice dessert and maybe win a door prize. Delicious homemade desserts include gluten free and diabetic items for those with dietary restrictions. Cost is just $5 per person. The Bernie Carbo story: A major league confession
6:30 p.m. at Tomoka Christian Church. Free event featuring baseball legend Bernie Carbo. A separate track is available for women and teen girls led by Tammy Carbo, Bernie's wife. The former baseball major leaguer will talk about his career, which included a three-run homer in the 1975 World Series, leading to a Red Sox victory. His baseball career ended after years of alcohol and drug abuse. While in recovery, he learned about the power of Jesus, and his life was never the same again. Tammy Carbo's talk, “What Women Need to Hear,” will address the struggles women face and the importance of prayer and Bible study to keep strong a woman’s commitment to God, the church, and her marriage. Christian Singer Francesca Battistelli
6:30 p.m. at Calvary Christian Center, 1687 W. Granada Blvd. In celebration of 150 years of Seventh-day Adventist healthcare, the six Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties – which comprise the Florida Hospital East Florida Region – will host a free concert for the community featuring Christian singer Francesca Battistelli. She is a Grammy award winner and six-time Dove Award recipient. Her music features stunning, soulful lyrics that encompass a variety of genres, including jazz, rock, gospel, and R&B. Holiday Bazaar
8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Tomoka United Methodist Church. Free admission. Fall, Christmas and year-round crafts and a great selection of gifts. Homemade lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a wide selection of bake sale items will be available throughout the day.

How to Care for Bromeliads
10 a.m. at the Ormond Beach Regional Library, 30 S. Beach St. Bromeliads are low-maintenance, flowering plants that are members of the pineapple family. They can be grown in indoor containers, the Florida landscape, and even on trees. Jay Thurrott, president of the Bromeliad Society International, will explain how to care for these colorful plants. Call to artists
Florida Women’s Arts Association is partnering with Ormond Beach MainStreet for a first annual event designed to exhibit local artists in our community and boost the retail economy in Ormond Beach.
From January 14 to 22, 2017 works from local artists will hang in various business venues along Granada Blvd., between US 1 and A1A. There will be both a printed and an online map showing the venues and the public will have access to an online app to vote for their favorite pieces.
At the end of the show, there will be a gala to award monetary prizes and the winner’s art will stay on display for a month in a sponsored venue.
All Ormond Beach residents and all members of Florida Women’s Arts Association are eligible to enter. If you are NOT an Ormond Beach resident, you may join the FLWAA for as little as $25 per year. This opportunity is open only to two-dimensional pieces and sculpture. At this time we are not accepting jewelry, pottery or crafts.
