Mainland volleyball was shut out by Flagler Palm Coast High School Tuesday night, in the first match of the season, losing 25-13, 25-19 and 25-9.

“Tonight, they were really off,” said Mainland coach Sandra Garner. “Number 6 on FPC (Olga Nushtayeva) had some awesome hits, we couldn’t stop her.”

With only two returning players from a possible seven, the Mainland team is young and inexperienced. “We are playing a varsity schedule with JV experience,” Garner said.

Thursday night, the Lady Bucs will host Atlantic, a team they beat in the preseason classic, at 5 and 6 p.m.
