Volusia County beach ramps will remain closed until the end of the day on Thursday, March 26, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, off-beach parking lots remain open.

The county issued a press release explaining this decision was made as a continued measure of crowd control and to "favor the conditions for social distancing," and that this helps Volusia County Beach Safety staff to manage beachgoers and enforce the guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control. Groups should be limited to 10 people or less and maintain a six-foot distance from all other groups.

As of 9 a.m. Monday, March 23, the Florida Department of Health reported 14 Volusia County residents have tested positive for COVID-19.
