The Sept. 9 emergency meeting of the Volusia County School Board to discuss the Mandatory Face Covering Policy 503 has been canceled, as the school district awaits a court ruling from the 1st District Court of Appeal.

Face coverings are required for K-12 students and all adults in schools and VCS facilities. There is a grace period this week (Sept. 7-10) for families to obtain a note from a medical professional requesting a medical exemption.

The policy will continue until October 15, and will be revisited at intervening School Board meetings. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, at the DeLand Administrative Complex, 200 N. Clara Ave., DeLand. The meeting will be open to the public. The public can watch the meeting by going to the district website: vcsedu.org.
