Volusia County schools will only need to make up one full day and cancel three early release days to make up for the time lost due to Hurricane Irma.

This is because the Department of Education has waived a portion of the missed instructional time, therefore allowing less days to be made up in the school year. No holidays were impacted.

These are the changes that were made:

  • Monday, Oct. 16, which originally was a student holiday, is now a student day and the last day of the grading period.
  • Early release on December 6, 13 and 20 have been canceled.
