Weekend traffic report: Sunday fatality prompts police investigation

Police are investigating a Sunday afternoon crash involving a car and a motorcycle.

The Ormond Beach Police Department is investigating a Sunday afternoon traffic accident that left one woman dead.

Barbara Layne was driving her car northbound at approximately 3:50 p.m. May 12, on South Nova Road, when she turned left, directly into the path of a motorcycle traveling southbound on the same road.

The motorcycle struck the the vehicle’s rear passenger side, police said, and both riders, Donald Boone and Carol Boone, were ejected and seriously injured.

Carol Boone was later pronounced dead at Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach.
