A certain type of heron was spotted eating a meal in Ormond Beach.

Ormond Beach Resident Kim Zechnowitz recently spotted a yellow-crowned night heron munching on a crab underneath the Granada Bridge.

“That is the first one I’ve ever seen by the bridge,” she said in an email. “The pelicans were putting on a show looking for handouts from the people fishing on the dock. If anyone is interested in seeing a diverse group of our local birds, the west end of the Granada Bridge is a great place.
