An Orange City woman was arrested April 18, for stealing nearly $170,000 from an Ormond Beach business within the span of three years.

Steffani Lariscy, 37, was arrested by Sheriff’s deputies in Iredell County, N.C., a year after the start of an investigation, which stemmed from accounting discrepancies at Robbins Camper Sales.

Dennis Robbins, the owner, first noticed an irregularity in the company's financial records after a Feb. 22, 2012 sale of a camper for $11,000. Lariscy, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, was supposed to deposit the cash payment into the company's bank account.

However, when Robbins reviewed the records, he noticed a $10,000 deposit. He contacted the bank and was informed that a deposit was never made, according to the report. Robbins told law enforcement he confronted Lariscy about the issue and she denied any knowledge.

Robbins contacted law enforcement last March, after doing an internal audit and discovering significantly more money was missing than initially thought.

Bank records, from April 2009 to February 2012, were analyzed by two accountants and a fraud examiner in March, the Sheriff's Office said, and it was determined that $169,822.63 had been “misappropriated from the business.”

Lariscy eventually admitted to Robbins that she stole the $11,000 in February 2012, but told him she needed the money because of her divorce, and said she would pay it back, according to the report.

When Robbins told Lariscy was going to involve law enforcement, she left the business and never returned.

Lariscy has been charged with grand theft and is being held on $100,000 bond.

During the investigation, an anonymous tipster contacted law enforcement and said Lariscy had been bragging about a lot of unexplained cash at her home, had purchased new furniture and had spent $7,000 on breast implants.

Lariscy and her husband were in the “initial stages of a divorce” when the investigation began, according to the report. He told law enforcement he didn’t know how Lariscy was paying for the recent purchases.
