Larceny. Police responded to a residence suspected of stealing water from the city after an employee discovered a "jumper" device in the city's PVC pipe inside the water meter. The device was designed to allow a person to use water even after having it cut off for lack of payment.

The employee told police the residence in question uses about 7,000 gallons of water every two weeks, cheating the city out of around $100 since March 2.

Ill-timed UFC mention

Resisting an officer with violence. After a 22-year-old woman from Orlando was arrested, she threatened to "drop kick" three officers, one of who found her asleep behind the wheel of her vehicle.

After successfully waking her and having her step out of her car, the woman refused police commands to stay still and tried repeatedly to leave scene, including pushing one of the officers out of the way in one instance. At that point, the officers attempted to handcuff her and place her under arrest for resisting an officer, when the woman pulled on an officer's taser.

She was transferred to the police department for a DUI investigation, and continued to be verbally aggressive through it all. She explained to the officers that she was "UFC trained" and that she could kick all of their behinds. In the end, she was transferred to the Volusia County Branch Jail.

Drunk in love

8:34 p.m. — 400 block of North Nova Road

DUI. A 25-year-old man from Port Orange told police he was drunk after he was pulled over, explaining that he was going through a "tough time" and that he had recently gotten out of a relationship.

The officers proceeded with a DUI investigation, determining he was in fact, intoxicated and brought him to the police station for more tests. During his interview with police, the young man said he was driving the vehicle, but had no idea what time it was, where he was or what road he was last on.

The man also told him he'd had two Twisted Teas earlier, and that he thought it was March 16. He was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
