Bunnell FFA learns leadership and teamwork

Flagler Palm Coast High School’s Bunnell FFA has been busy this summer. First on the agenda was to elect new officers for the 2012-2013 school year.

This group has set many goals to improve the chapter, including boosting active membership and increasing community involvement. The team will finalize goals, learn teamwork and leadership skills, and prepare for the year on its annual officer retreat which will take place Aug. 8 to Aug. 12.

The officers who will serve this year are Katie Young, president; Austin Davis, vice president; Hannah Welch, secretary; Kerry Norberg, treasurer; Jessica DiMaria, reporter; Amber Stallman, sentinel; Tara Norberg, parliamentarian; and Madison Worley, historian.

In addition to picking new officers, members of the club attended several camps and conferences, including the Florida Outdoor Adventures, in Haines City; the Florida Leadership Adventures conference; and Florida FFA’s Forestry Training Camp, at Oleno State Park.

At the end of the Florida FFA’s Forestry Training Camp, campers participate in an evaluation similar to the FFA’s Forest Management Contest. McKenzie Smith was recognized as one of the Top 10 first-year campers, receiving a biltmore stick and a hand compass. Davis was the Top Returning Camper, with a score of 100% and Miranda Kuleski was also one of the top scores in the Returning Camper Division.
The Bunnell Sr. chapter joined with the Buddy Taylor FFA chapter at the end of June, to attend the State FFA Convention, at the Caribe Royale Hotel, in Orlando.

At the convention, Davis set up a booth at the Career Show for the Junior American Boer Goat Association and was recognized as a Star State Greenhand Finalist. Kerry Norberg competed in the Job Interview Career Development Event, and Katie Young served as a part of the Courtesy Corps to help the convention run smoothly and also was elected as the District 6 Secretary. Norberg and Welch also served as delegates for Bunnell Sr. to elect the district offices and state offices, on behalf of their chapter. MacKenzie Smith and Ciara Celestino served as delegates for the Buddy Taylor FFA and were given the same responsibilities as Bunnell Sr.
