Ormond Beach history teacher and former undercover narcotics officer Doug Giacobbe has self-published his second novel, ‘By unknown means,’

BY MIKE CAVALIERE | ASSOCIATE EDITOR

Ormond Beach resident Doug Giacobbe isn’t a special agent, but the main character of his new novel, “By Unknown Means,” Michael Callaway is.

Callaway runs a contraband-enforcement boat for the customs service, until he goes rogue to pursue infamous drug lord Anton Drake.

Giacobbe, on the other hand, is a former South Florida law-enforcement officer and current history professor at Daytona State College.

“While the book is fiction, I have borrowed situations and personalities from actual events and people that I have experienced in my 24 years in law enforcement,” Giacobbe says — “including the time that I spent working undercover as a narcotics investigator.”

“By Unknown Means” can be found at Amazon.com, or at Purple Dragonfly Boutique, at 1462 W Granada Blvd..
