Eagles give back

The Ormond by the Sea Eagles 4435 has donated $4,500 to emergency health care in Ormond Beach, with a grant of $3,500 to Florida Hospital, and a grant of $1,000 to the Ormond Beach Fire Department, for CPR training.

The club’s Ladies Auxiliary also donated 100 Easter baskets to Osceola Elementary School, and 48 baskets to Ortona Elementary, in Daytona Beach, for the holiday. And at the club’s anniversary event April 20, its state presidents will be awarded $700 each for their sponsored diabetes and autism charities.

Leonard Dills: Ombudsman of the Year

Ormond Beach’s Leonard Dills has been named the Ombudsman of 2013, by the Florida Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program’s First Coast South, Volusia and Flagler District.

A certified ombudsman since 2007, helping to defend the rights of residents in long-term, family-care homes, Dills donated more than 260 hours to completing complaint investigations last year. He is also a representative of the Statewide Ombudsman Council and makes community presentations.

“Leonard is the ultimate example of what an ombudsman should strive to be,” said Lisa Dale, from the Ombudsman District Office.
