Right off busy Granada Boulevard lies Bonnie’s Boutique, a place for fashion, accessories, and a little bit of entertainment.

“I wanted to be in business,” Bonnie Zalewski, owner of Bonnie’s Boutique, said. “My mother is a seamstress, and I never wanted to sew. I just wanted to have good stuff ready to sell.”

But the boutique will cease operations at the end of January. Zalewski said though she is sad about closing she does not see it as a failure.

“I was appreciative to be in business for that many years. It’s actually a success to be in business for so many years, especially as a woman, because usually it’s — you know,” she said with a chuckle in her Polish accent. “Thirty years. Isn’t that enough?”

Zalewski, who originally opened the store in 1983 in Seabreeze Boulevard, said though her customesr were sad to see her go, they are very supportive of her decisions. And she’s thankful for that.

“My customers were so sad,” Zalewski said. “They say, ‘Where are we going to go? What are we going to do?’ I want to thank everybody who supported me and wore my fashions well.”

Zalewski is offering up to 50% off everything in Bonnie’s Boutique until it closes next year.
