First Church women give hatitude

Do you have hatitude? The ladies of First Church in Palm Coast do, and they showed it Saturday, July 27, with the third-annual Hatitude Luncheon, held at the church.

The lunch was part of the Woman’s day Celebration which will be held Sept. 8.

‘Many of us moved here from the north where wearing church hats is a tradition,” explained event chairperson Sybil Lucas. “This is our opportunity to bring it back and be creative with it.”

But a luncheon isn’t the same without the people who prepare the food. The food committee for the event was chaired by Mattie DeVore and also included Hazel Edwards, Stephanie Dennis, Wanda White, Jeroline McCarthy, Clara Bivens, Betty White, Lucas, Virene Garrett, Glorida Benjamin, Dora Campbell, Ruth Brown, Ruby Sims, Maxine Josey, Yolaine Goodrich, Sondra Henderson, Tracey Calhoun, Mary Hinds and Patricia Brown.
