Riley Shugg, 20, was crowned Miss Flagler County 2013 Sunday, June 23, at the Flagler Auditorium.

Shugg, daughter of Greg and Kim Shugg, of Flagler Beach, will be a junior this year at Auburn University, where she is studying animal science in a pre-vet program. She is an intern at the Central Florida Zoo and eventually hopes to attend University of Florida’s vet school. Her ultimate career goal is to work in marine animal medicine and research.

“Winning the crown and being Miss Flagler County is a real honor for me,” she said. “After moving away to college I was fully able to understand what a great community we live in, and what an honor it is to have had the opportunity to grow up and live in Flagler County. Now, being a representative of such an awesome place I am filled with joy to know that I will always have my own little piece of Flagler to look back on and cherish.”

Shugg also took the win for Miss Personality and best bathing suit. Jordan Patin was named first runner-up, Cayla Moremen was second runner-up and Kerry Norberg was third runner-up.
