Tents and luminaries lined the loop Saturday at Central Park at Town Center. A slew of Relay for Life flags positioned at the main entrance spelled out the word “hope,” which is exactly what the event was all about.

Relay for Life Flagler had 47 teams and 271 participants. The evening was cut short because of severe weather, but in the short time of the event, about $9,000 was raised, allowing the local event to reach its overall goal of $66,000. Participants have until August to raise money.
